Then Mosh•ëhꞋ perceived ël•oh•imꞋ speaking to him saying:
"I am é‑‑ä, who was perceived by Avᵊrâ•hâmꞋ, by Yi•tzᵊkhâqꞋ and by Ya•a•qovꞋ as Eil Shad•aiꞋ. But My Name, é‑‑ä, I did not make known to them.
"I thereby also established My bᵊrit with them – giving them the land of Kᵊna•anꞋ, the land of their geir-ship, where they immigrated as geir•imꞋ after emigrating from Iraq.
"Furthermore, I've heard the loud-groaning of Bᵊn•eiꞋ-Yi•sᵊrâ•eilꞋ, whom the Mi•tzᵊraꞋyim keep in corvée – and I have remembered My bᵊrit.
"Therefore, say to Bᵊn•eiꞋ-Yi•sᵊrâ•eilꞋ: 'I am é‑‑ä and I shall usher you out from under the burden imposed on you by the Mi•tzᵊraꞋyim. I will rescue you from their corvée and I shall redeem you with the Nᵊtu•yâhꞋ of My Hand, accompanied by great judgments.'
"And I will take you to be My am; and I will be your ël•oh•imꞋ. So you shall know that I am é‑‑ä your ël•oh•imꞋ, Who ushered you out from under the burden of Mi•tzᵊraꞋyim.
"Then I will bring you to hâ-ârꞋëtz, which I lifted My Hand to give it to Avᵊrâ•hâmꞋ, to Yi•tzᵊkhâqꞋ and to Ya•a•qovꞋ. So I shall give it to you for the inheritance – I am é‑‑ä!"
As directed, Mosh•ëhꞋ told Bᵊn•eiꞋ-Yi•sᵊrâ•eilꞋ; but they paid no attention because they were dispirited and under a harsh workload.
Par•ohꞋ Men-kheper |
"I am é‑‑ä! Though Bᵊn•eiꞋ-Yi•sᵊrâ•eilꞋ paid no attention, declare to Par•ohꞋ, mëlꞋëkh Mi•tzᵊraꞋyim, everything that I tell you!"
"Look, I'm an Egyptian-speaking, adoptive step-uncle of Par•ohꞋ. Why would Par•ohꞋ listen to me as a spokesman for the Ha•birꞋu?"
"See, I've allowed you to be ël•oh•imꞋ to Par•ohꞋ; and your brother, A•ha•ronꞋ, a native Hebrew-speaker, to be your Nâ•viꞋ. You shall speak everything I command you and your brother, A•ha•ronꞋ, shall relay it to Par•ohꞋ: that he shall send Bᵊn•eiꞋ-Yi•sᵊrâ•eilꞋ forth from his land.
But I will goad the arrogant-defiance harbored in Par•ohꞋ's heart by multiplying My signs and natural-wonders in the ërꞋëtz Mi•tzᵊraꞋyim.
So Par•ohꞋ will not listen to you; and I will allow My Hand in Mi•tzᵊraꞋyim, ushering forth My Tzᵊvâ•otꞋ, My am: Bᵊn•eiꞋ-Yi•sᵊrâ•eilꞋ, from out of ërꞋëtz Mi•tzᵊraꞋyim by great judgments. Then the Mi•tzᵊraꞋyim shall know that I am é‑‑ä in My Nᵊtu•yâhꞋ of My Hand over Mi•tzᵊraꞋyim and usher-forth Bᵊn•eiꞋ-Yi•sᵊrâ•eilꞋ from their midst."
So Mosh•ëhꞋ and A•ha•ronꞋ did accordingly.
Egyptian heqa (l) & ùÒÀëÆí (r) scepters. Rulers would hold one in each hand when adjudicating a matter; the ùÒÀëÆí in the right hand and the heqa in the left hand. |
Now Mosh•ëhꞋ was 80 years old, and A•ha•ronꞋ was 83, when they spoke before Par•ohꞋ. At that time, Mosh•ëhꞋ perceived é‑‑ä's direction to him and A•ha•ronꞋ, saying,
When Par•ohꞋ shall reply to you saying, 'Produce for yourself a natural-wonder!' then you shall tell A•ha•ronꞋ, 'Take your scepter and drop it down before Par•ohꞋ so that it becomes a snake.' "
Then Mosh•ëhꞋ and A•ha•ronꞋ went in to Par•ohꞋ and did so, as é‑‑ä had commanded. A•ha•ronꞋ dropped his scepter in front of Par•ohꞋ and his cabinet, and the scepter transformed into a snake.

But Par•ohꞋ summoned the wise men and the aspidomancers and even the glyphomancers of Mi•tzᵊraꞋyim performed comparable illusions with their pyromancy.
Every one of them performed the same illusion, dropping their scepter and it transformed into a snake. But the snake from A•ha•ronꞋ's scepter ate all of their snakes! And this goaded the arrogant-defiance harbored in Par•ohꞋ's heart so that he refused their request — as é‑‑ä had predicted.
